Paradigm shift in the way i saw PHILIPS

Technology perks me up. What i saw on NDTV - gadget guru left me agape. The show covered Sense and Simplicity Event 2008 in Moscow. The technology that PHILIPS used made me feel like an ape man (not jane's ape man ;) ).

Concepts presented showed the most futuristic technology i have seen.

1) The Light Blossom

True to its name this lamp post blossoms when the sun shines. The "petals" collect solar energy and like a sunflower it always faces the sun to tap maximum of suns energy. During cloudy days the petals can act as wind turbine to tap wind power. Also it is intelligent enuff to switch between solar and wind power to get maximum energy. Once the sun sets the petals transform themselves into light. Well the pole also has LEDs all over it. It has proximity sensors as to dim when noones around and brighten up when people are close by. Moreover it does not require any installation or grid connectivity ideal for remote and rural locations.

2) The Green Cuisine

"The 'Green Cuisine' concept stands for cooking with consciousness" as the PHILIPS website says. I dunno what it means. I surely know after seeing it one would say theres more to it than meets the eyes.

A simple white table probably the size of TT table, though a squarer version of it. A container was kept on it and suddenly a disc of light started glowing below it.One swipe of hand around it and you can set the optimum heating temperature. The container can be placed anywhere on the table the sensors take care of it.

If u want to kewl your wine no problem place it in on the table and tada it will be cooled.Recycling the bio degradable waste no problem. The table has a rectangular lid, The waste is to be fed there and the table gives out a disc which can be placed in flower pots serving nutrition for them. One can preset the temperature of the water to avoid wastage.

Prior to this i saw Philips as a company who use to make radios and recently kewl bulbs and oversized mp3 players.

Thieves too get bored

How many times would you have said i am bored of this? i am referring to monotony. Everyone gets bored of doing the same stuff over and over again especially at jobs. Alternatively, normally one is excited to do new and creative work. I distinctly remember during campus placements most of my friends said to the interviewer i would like a challenging job. Either one of them has become a thief or thieves are also bored of flinching mobiles ( which btw was very common in 1 year of my engg). Even they need to do something challenging and experience the high of innovation.

My triband ( broadband ) suddenly lost its pulse and an indescribable restlessness creeped in with the thought that i was disconnected from the WORLD WIDE WEB.

The next morning i had to go to SBI branch for a DD. i saw a board stating Due to MTNL cable fault the bank will be closed today. If at all there's LUCK i have only BAD LUCK i had taken half day off from work and here the banks off due to MTNL cable fault. But while reading the notice a weird sense of temporary releif ran through, one that builds when u know that you are not the only one suffering, My broadband was down , the bank n/w was down, mostly the entire area n/w was down.

Later in the evening i came to know that someone had stolen MTNL cable and hence the entire area n/w ceased to be one. This was new , i was laughing i mean imagine these cables are thick, heavy, underground and hence i had mentioned challenge , innovation and boredom before and their applicability to thieves.

It does not end here innvoation has no limits.

Out of 473 dustbin installed this year in F north and south ward of mumbai only 12 remain. 112 dustbins were replaced and again none remain.

One of the most amusing thefts that i have come across is Bus stop stolen from suburban Borivali
The new steel bus stop was uprooted from Shastri nagar and lifted. Well who knows there might be an alien connection to it.;) ( actually i have applied for job at INDIA TV as content editor).

Well when things are so amusing the government officials cant miss their part in the comedy. BSNL officials had blamed private players for their cable thefts.

They were alleging private agents of cutting BSNL cables and then approaching consumers with alternate connections.

The thirst of doing something different is all pervasive in human society, he/she needs to be innovative in blame games too.

BMC officials had blamed Beijing Olympics for Manhole covers. Supposedly the high demand of iron ore due to Olympics made our thieves to look for supply in high iron ore contents of MANHOLE COVERS. The CP of one cover was 3500 and after the boom it was sold in grey market for 5500 Rs.

Well not always the "good" subjects of the crap written above innovate in futile matters. They do challenge themselves and have come up with low iron ore composite Manhole covers and theft proof dustbins.

And yes about the "bad" subjects they score above the good ones :
The theft proof dustbin was stolen on the first day after it was installed and the BUS STOP remains to shine as a jewel in their crown.
